  • Much more...

The Process...

Our coaches will be watching every wave, dissecting your surfing, unraveling any bad habits you've picked up, and breaking things down with actionable instruction, and a clear roadmap for you to improve.

Analysis

Our coaches will carry out an intricate, full breakdown of your surfing.

Find out what's holding you back

We'll uncover any bad habits, bad technique or blindspots that could be holding your surf progression back.  And get them fixed.

Clear progression road map

Over the weekend we'll develop a bespoke, clear roadmap so that you know exactly what you should be working on to improve, and why.

Surf Video Analysis

If you want real, honest feedback of where your surfing is at right now, then look no further than video analysis.

With frame by frame breakdowns our coaches will be able to dissect every wave you catch.

They'll dig deep into your technique, find out what's holding you back, and give you a clear action-plan to get better.

Rapid Feedback Loop

Throughout the weekend our coaches will be giving you simple, actionable advice to speed up your progress.

Action, Analysis, Response...

...Rinse & repeat.

We call this the rapid feedback loop and it's an integral part of the weekend.

1-ON-1 Tailor-Made Coaching

We keep the group sizes small, and the coach to student ratio small so that every student has ample access to the expert coaches at hand.

Giving our coaches plenty of time with each student to make rapid improvements.

Meet Your Coaches

Gabi Paul (Head Coach)

3x NZ Longboard Champ

As comfortable cross-stepping and hanging-ten on her longboard as she is packing big tubes, and getting super technical on her shortboard…

…Gabi is the complete package.

Growing up in the wild seas of Piha, she’s gone to become the Triple New Zealand Longboard champ, and even finished runner up in the Shortboard division too!

At just 19 she’s packed a lot into her short time here - with travel to Europe, USA, Australia and much more under her belt already.

Always full of smiles, we’re thankful to have Gabi onboard the House of Surf as one of our top coaches.

Lauren Ringer (Founder)

Former WQS Professional Surfer

Lauren grew up competing in Australia, before taking to the world stage of the WQS, travelling the world competing everywhere from Hawaii to South Africa, France to Huntington Beach.

And since then, her mission has been to encourage more women to try surfing and to have them feel less intimidated, and included out in the water.

A fully-qualified and certified Surf Instructor, Life Guard and Life Coach with over 20 years experience; Lauren has taught surfers around the world.

Rowan Clifford (Director)

Elite Coach [25 years experience]

The analytical mind amongst the group of coaches...

Rowan's 25+ years of surfing around the world - from Portugal, France, Hawaii, Indo, even India - shine through when coaching in the water.

Helping to dissect complex technical techniques into simple, easy to digest chunks.

This is easier said than done!

A vibrant bottle of high-vibe energy, Rowan always manages to get the best out of his students.

"Awesome!!

I’m new to surfing and the Boost weekend was just the thing I needed to identify areas that I personally need to work on.

The video analysis highlights the good, the bad and the ugly straight away!

Loz and the team did a fab job; super organised as usual and the days were well structured.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to progress their surfing."

INGRID SELWYN OLSEN/

"I highly recommend House of Surf Boost Weekend. It was a great blend of theory, practice, analysis and FUN!

The video analysis was amazing and I learnt valuable tips from watching each participants video, not just my own.

The weekend was really well planned giving us plenty of time to physically recover before heading back out into the surf and information was delivered in a variety of ways to suit all learning styles. Loz, Rowen and Dan are super supportive and a wealth of knowledge.

They create a really comfortable learning environment where it’s absolutely ok to wipe out or “fail”. There’s a nugget in the good and the bad waves. Feedback is delivered in a really constructive and uplifting way.

Thank you so much Loz, Rowan and Dan for giving me the confidence and tools to analyse my own surfing. Each time I go out now I have a better idea of what to work on, what I’m working toward and how to find the elusive 'Spot X’. You guys rock!

"Hi Loz, Rowan and Dan

Thank you for making all my “blue crush” dreams come true :) .

I really loved the video analysis to see what we need to work, what we are doing right and wrong .

I would recommend this weekend and the house of surf crew in a heartbeat.

Thanks Kristina"

In Case You're Wondering...

Is food or Accomodation included?

The weekend coaching event is tuition only.

Where you eat and where you stay is up to the discretion of each participant.

Can I turn up and pay?

All surf coaching weekends are to be paid in full before commencing.

No money is accepted on the beach.

What level of fitness do you require?

All participants must be able to swim. A moderate fitness level is sufficient.

Do you supply equipment?

Yes. We are able to supply soft top surfboards in a variety of sizes from 6 - 9ft.  Please let us know in advance if you'd like to reserve any of our equipment.

With regards to wetsuits, we do have a limited supply available so please check in early for availability.

Can I buy this weekend as a gift?

Absolutely. This is a great gift for women surfers who are looking to improve their surfing.

Can I expect to improve my surfing?

Absolutely.

Good surf tuition is fundamental to your surf progression. These surf coaching weekends are a great way to identify your weaknesses and build on your strengths.

What's your contact details so I can get my friends to join too?

Call us on +64 (0)27 640 6112.

What's your refund policy?

Unfortunately we can't offer refunds I'm afraid.
If in the unlikely event you need to cancel you'll be offered a credit note that can be used towards any/all of the services we offer.

What happens if there's no surf?

We encourage surfers not to get too picky about the forecast because perfect waves aren’t necessarily best for coaching.

If conditions are un-surfable and we need to postpone the weekend, we’ll shift the event to the next available window.

We'll do our absolute best to notify you as soon as possible.

What do I need to bring?

If you have your own equipment then we suggest for you to bring it. Bring food, water bottle and appropriate sun protection.

Where do we meet?

Classes are mobile between the Mount - Papamoa, with the primary location being Mussle Rock (near Main beach).

We'll let you know the day before where the meet up location will be for the next morning.

How do you teach the SURF LESSONS?

The  lessons have a mixture of land and water based tuition, video analysis and more.

Are the surf coaching weekends held all year round?

A bit of both.

We run the majority of our surf coaching weekends in the warmer months, between Sep/ Oct - March/ April..

However, we're just feeling things out right now and we may well be running these events all winter long.

Are the weekends structured?

Yes to a certain degree.

We like to plan or weekends, but sometimes the weather and the waves don't allow us to follow our itinerary. Hence the need to have a rough plan and make appropriate changes when necessary.

What kind of areas of surfing will we be working on?

All our students will be at slightly different levels in their surf progression.

Although we will be doing plenty of group learning, much of the coaching will be unique to each individual.

Our approach...

We approach surf coaching a little differently to most...

To us, surfing is more than just pop-ups and cutbacks.  Sure, these things are important (and we cover them in depth of course), but there's just so much more to surfing than this.

That's why we take a more holistic approach - using surfing as the medium to empower women in all areas of their lives.

Which is why we centre everything we teach around our unique eight-pillar system that focuses on far more than technique alone, to create a safe an nurturing space for you to push yourself and enjoy everything surfing has to offer.
