A TWO-DAY INTENSIVE SURFING COURSE FOR WOMEN...

So you've mastered the basics - you can catch your own whitewater waves, and you can get to your feet consistently...

...but then what?

What's next??

Well, it's now time for that tricky transition phase away from catching whitewater waves, and taking your first baby-steps out the back, to begin catching and riding green unbroken waves once and for all.

Now you might have been surfing for years but stagnated, or are pretty new to the sport.

But this, is where surfing starts to get REAL fun!

However it's not easy, and this transition can be fraught with fear, uncertainty & doubt, with all those annoying inner insecurities bubbling to the surface.

  • What if I make a fool out of myself?
  • I'm not ready.
  • I'm just not good enough.
  • I've been surfing for ages and I'm not getting any better.

And you know what, it's this inner self talk that holds so many of us women back, but we're committed to changing that narrative, and we're committed to helping you though this awkward stage.

AND WE'VE GOT AN EPIC SOLUTION TO DO JUST THAT 👇

An intensive two-day technical surfing course, taking a small group of likeminded women - at the same stage in the learning cycle - through a hyper-structured course where you’ll learn exactly what you need to know - at the right time, and in the right order - to empower you with the skills to progress as quickly as possible.

Through our detailed progression roadmap our first class surf instructors will break down all of the technical, complicated surf jargon and deliver it to you in a step by step format that’s super easy to follow, all in a 100% non-judgemental learning environment.

Technical surfing, taught simply!

Holding your hand, guiding and nurturing you through the entire two-day course.

And if that’s not enough, we have a fully fledged online learning portal (yours for life) - with detailed breakdowns, home workouts & practices - that compliments everything you'll be learning throughout the weekend, and a boat load more.

Yours to keep, to take away with you to practice and refine your skills 👊

WHAT TO EXPECT

In the Progressor Course we assume you know the basics - how to catch whitewater waves and pop to your feet consistently - so we do away with covering the absolute basic stuff.

And we concentrate our focus instead on the next stage, the quickening, where we'll iron-out any bad habits you've picked up, and set out on the structured course journey.

You'll be guided through our 5-step program teaching you the skills to:

  • Comfortably navigate your way out the back, paddling through, over and under whitewater waves with ease.
  • Catch, and ride green waves unassisted, consistently.
  • Start the very first steps of trimming across green unbroken waves.

This is where surfing starts to get really frickin exciting!

We'll help you learn which waves to select and why, and more importantly which waves to avoid!

You'll learn the techniques to navigate through broken waves with ease to make it out the back.

You'll also learn exactly how to take off on an unbroken wave, pop-up instantly, and successfully navigate the drop - the right way.

With each session seamlessly building on the last, you'll accelerate your transition to surfing green unbroken waves - all with the correct fundamentals - right from the off-set.

*This course has been built from the ground up to guide you through this phase in your progression, and our expert team are here to help you every step of the way.

YOU'LL LEARN:

  • Harness the power of the 'Pop & Cork' method - a technique that'll double (or even triple your wave count, instantly).
  • Understand the 4-stages of a wave so that you're on the right waves, at the right time - every time.
  • Learn all about 'Spot-X' - what it is, why it's important, and how to use it to your advantage.
  • Learn the secrets to the little known 'Pro-Pop' method - used by the pro's, but so often overlooked by beginners.
  • Master the skills of taking-off on green unbroken waves - without nosediving on every wave!
  • Learn the difference between functional and progressive stance - which one you should be focusing on, and why.
  • Find out the oh so common (easily avoidable) mistakes that 90% of beginners make time, and time again - and how to correct them.

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL...

NON JUDGEMENTAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

We understand how it feels to navigate within a male dominated environment where you feel stifled, self conscious, intimidated, and lack a lot of confidence (don’t worry, we’ve been there too).

Which is why we’ve created these weekend courses in the way we have.

You’ll be in a small group with likeminded women at the same level in the surfing journey as you, in a nurturing, massively supportive environment throughout.

A STRUCTURED, OUTCOME-ORIENTED COURSE

All of the course material has been structured in a way to guide you through the key progression steps to help you improve - with the correct fundamentals - as fast as possible.

ALL SIZES & ABILITIES

We welcome you all.

We've helped women of all ages - from fifteen to sixty+.

All abilities & agilities too.

We're here to give you the support and the guidance you need.

ONLINE COURSE - YOURS TO KEEP

We've created an entire online learning portal that compliments everything that you'll be taught over the two day course.

Detailed breakdowns, graphics and tear downs that you can come back to again and again to refresh and take at your own pace.

WHY CHOOSE THE HOUSE OF SURF?

The House of Surf was originally founded on the basis of helping more women get into the sport of surfing, to help them feel nurtured and less intimidated in the water.

And this core mission is still at the forefront of everything we do today.

Having helped literally hundreds of women in the Bay of Plenty alone (not to mention many more overseas) take their first steps into the sport of surfing, plus being home to the biggest community of women surfers in NZ (830+), we are THE go-to place for women to learn to surf - and improve - in the whole of New Zealand 💃

OUR APPROACH

We approach surf coaching a little differently to most...

To us, surfing is more than just pop-ups and cutbacks. Sure, these things are important (and we cover them in depth of course), but there's just so much more to surfing than this.

That's why we take a more holistic approach - using surfing as the medium to empower women in all areas of their lives.

Which is why we centre all our courses around our unique eight-pillar system that focuses on far more than technique alone, to create a safe, nurturing space for you to push yourself and enjoy everything surfing has to offer.

Please refer to our Terms and Conditions here.

Do you supply surfboards?

Yup for sure, we have a huge range of surfboards that you can use for the duration of the course ranging from 6ft- 9 ft.

Do you supply wetsuits?

Yes, we have plenty of wetsuits to keep you warm should you need to use one.

What happens if there's no surf?

Unfortunately, dealing with Mother Nature isn’t always predictable and flat days are a possibility (although unlikely).

In the even that the conditions look too flat for us to run the course we’ll have to postpone it until the next release date.

To give as much notice as possible we’ll make the call no later than three days out from the start date.

We can’t unfortunately take any responsibility for any costs incurred with accommodation cancelations so be sure to take that into consideration when/if booking accommodation.

HOW MANY TIMES WILL WE SURF?

Over the weekend we’ll be surfing four times.

Three of the sessions will be recorded and broken down with video analysis, and the fourth session is more of a free surf/expression session.

ARE WE USING VIDEO ANALYSIS?

Yup for sure.

We’ll be recording all the waves from the first three sessions and breaking them down in detail with the group.

What happens if it's raining?

Regardless of the weather we'll be out there making the most of it.

Does the course have a structure?

Yes. the two-day course follows our signature program material - tried and tested on hundreds of students already in our signature women's five week programs.

The material is structured in a way whereby each step builds on the last, with a cohesive progression workflow throughout.

None of the fluff, only the good stuff 👊

What level of fitness do you require?

All participants must be able to swim. A moderate fitness level is sufficient.

Where do we meet?

We meet at the House of Surf HQ in Mount Maunganui, opposite No. 27 Marine Parade.

WHAT IS THE COACH TO STUDENT RATIO?

The course is run with a maximum of 6 people, operated on a 1-6 ration with one of our expert coaches.

COVID

what if I can't attend because of covid restrictions?

If Covid-19 affects your attendance at one of our weekend courses what we’ll do is reschedule you into the next available vacant dates.

If you’re still not able to attend the future course date we'll then issue you with a full credit note for 100% of the payment amount (valid for 12 months).

So once things have blown over you can hop back in where you left off 👊

DO I NEED A VACCINATION CERTIFICATE TO ATTEND?

No, you don't need proof of vaccination to attend the course.

covid, and accomodation refunds?

This is a tricky one and out of our scope of control unfortunately.

However, many accommodation providers have very flexible terms with their bookings in relation to any Covid-19 related cancelations.

So be sure to check the terms with your accommodation if needed beforehand.

Do i have to wear a mask to participate?

Mask wearing is not mandatory to participate in the course as we'll be outdoors throughout.

If you want to wear one though you are free to do so at your own discretion.
