I went out to Broad Beach today in Malibu and absolutely got worked because I couldn’t do this or didn’t know to do this. I was sitting on my board and huge wave just came out of nowhere and caught me in mid turn and rolled me almost all the way to the beach. It was quite embarrassing but it also hurt and I took in a ton of water lol

Hey Jasmin,

If you apply a breast stroke kick (we call it frog kick) at the same time as your nose of the board enters the wave (remember chin down) your paddle strokes are significantly reduced. However, there maybe times where you have mistimed the pop and cork and will need to add more paddle strokes.

This particular strategy takes time to master but please try to persist as it will make all the difference to your surfing in the long run.

If your turning over your left shoulder , then hold the outside rail with your right hand.
