GETTING BETTER WITH THE GROUP...
Surfing has got to be one of the healthiest sports a child can do; fresh air, sunshine, and an immersion in nature - it really doesn't get any better.
But it can be an intimidating environment - especially for young boys just starting out.
But everybody has to start somewhere right?
And that's why we're here.
To create that nurturing learning environment where young boys can learn alongside a group of likeminded frothers at the same stage in the learning cycle.
Building skills, growing in confidence, and improving each week.
All in a 100% safe learning environment with qualified surf instructors breaking down all of the technical, complicated surf jargon, delivering it to your child in a fun, easy to understand format that's super easy for kids to follow

WHAT TO EXPECT
Each week the boys squad will be given challenges and instruction to build on the skills they've developed.
Over time building up a solid technical surfing foundation week after week - something your son will have with him for life.
Understandably different boys will be at different levels, which is why we split the squad into groups to make sure everyone is comfortable and safe, as well as challenged throughout.
Individualised coaching, in a group environment.
The goal of the Boys Surf Squad is to arm your son with the technical skills to confidently surf green waves unassisted, have the skills to trim across green waves with ease, to eventually be ready to graduate into our Surf Academy.
With all of that being said our biggest goal - above all else - is to empower each boy with the confidence to be in the waves, and - more importantly - instil the love of surfing into their lives.
A FEW THINGS THE GROUP WILL BE LEARNING...
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL...
NON JUDGEMENTAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
We understand how it feels to start a whole new sport where you feel self conscious and intimidated, and lack a lot of confidence (don’t worry, we’ve been there too).
Which is why we’ve created these squads in the way we have;
Your son will be in a group with boys at the same age & level in the surfing journey as him, in a nurturing, massively supportive environment throughout.

WHY CHOOSE THE HOUSE OF SURF?
The House of Surf is a surf school with a twist...
...we steer clear of cookie-cutter tuition, and are bold and innovative in the way we teach - constantly looking for the new and exciting ways to teach the sport we love.
We live and breath the concept of individualised coaching in a group environment and we're constantly at the forefront of innovation in the sport.
Our trained instructors have helped literally hundreds of kids take their first steps into the sport of surfing, guiding, and nurturing each child along the way.
Which is why we've become the fastest growing surf school in Mount Maunganui (possibly even NZ), and why we're rated #1 on Google too

WHAT PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SAYING...

ADAM DYCK/
MT MAUNGANUI
Highly recommend the Micro Girls program.
Loz is an experienced teacher and loves sharing the froth with kids!
Our 6yr old loved it and her surfing progressed every week and is hanging out to do it again!

RACHEL GLASIER /
MT MAUNGANUI
"I took part in a 6-week intermediate programme and it was awesome!! I learned new skills, gained much needed confidence to take off on steeper waves and left with some tangible things to work on.
Can't recommend highly enough!!!
Loz really knows her stuff and can diagnose quickly...plus she's just a dream boat to hang out with.
Do it!!"

Claire Henry/
PAPAMOA
"Loz at House of Surf is a natural surf coach, with an ability to fine tune and tweak your surfing with so much skill and expertise.
Loz brings a level of fun and authentic passion for surfing and especially women's surfing that is contagious and so fun!
I have gained so much from only six weeks, would highly recommend Loz's classes for any level."
OUR APPROACH
We approach surf coaching a little differently to most...
To us, surfing is more than just pop-ups and cutbacks. Sure, these things are important (and we cover them in depth of course), but there's just so much more to surfing than this.
That's why we take a more holistic approach - using surfing as the medium to empower kids in all areas of their lives.
Which is why we centre all our programs around our unique eight-pillar system that focuses on far more than technique alone, to create a safe and nurturing space for kids to push themselves and enjoy everything surfing has to offer.
