A TWO-DAY INTENSIVE SURFING COURSE FOR WOMEN...

Learning to surf can be scary, intimidating and let's face it; just damn hard.  In fact with so many variables at play in the ocean it’s no wonder people struggle - with many never even giving it a go at all.

Sure, the normal path is to jump into a surf lesson, quickly nut out the absolute basics, but then what?

For most, you're now left to fend for yourself.

You're on your own, left to just figure the rest out somehow.

Everything is 'figure-outable' (thanks Marie Foleo) of course, but is that the best route?

Is "just figuring it out" the best, fastest way to improve?

Hell no.

Wouldn't it be better to have a crystal clear pathway to follow, where you know what to learn when, and why, with a step by step progression roadmap with each step building on the last?

Wouldn't it be better to get all these basics dialled the right way, building a solid technical foundation right from the beginning from which to improve?

WE THINK SO, AND THAT'S WHY WE'VE CREATED THIS COURSE...

An intensive two-day course, taking a small group of likeminded women - at the same stage in the learning cycle - through a hyper-structured program where you’ll learn exactly what you need to know - at the right time, and in the right order - to empower you with skills to progress as quickly as possible.

Through our Surfing Made Simple curriculum our trained surf instructors will breakdown all of the technical, complicated surf jargon and deliver it to you in a step by step format that’s super easy to follow, all in a 100% non-judgemental learning environment.

Technical surfing, taught simply!

Holding your hand, guiding and nurturing you through the entire two-day course.

And if that’s not enough, accompanying the weekend course is an in-depth digital course, expanding - and elaborating - on all of the material we'll be covering over the weekend.

Your's to keep for life, something you can refer back to time and time again.

WHAT TO EXPECT

In the Beginner Surfer Course we start with the absolute basics right from the outset.

We want to get the basics dialled, and develop a solid technical foundation from which to improve upon before moving on to the next stage.

Once here, we'll shift away from the basics and begin working on more challenging skills.

You'll be guided through our step-by-step course material teaching you the skills to:

  • Catch your own whitewater waves consistently - unassisted.
  • Pop-up (the right way), setting the correct foundations from which to improve.
  • Control your speed on the wave - speed up, and slow down.
  • Turn your board left & right, forehand and backhand.

This is where surfing starts to get really frickin exciting!

We'll help you learn which waves to select and why, and more importantly which waves to avoid!

We'll uncover any blindspots or bad habits that are holding you back in your technique and fix them.

You'll also learn exactly how to take off on a wave, pop-up instantly, and successfully ride it all the way to the beach.

With each session seamlessly building on the last, you'll accelerate your progression, learn the little known tricks and techniques that hold so many beginners back, and learn the correct fundamentals - right from the off-set.

*This course has been built from the ground up to guide you through this phase in your progression, and our expert team are here to help you every step of the way.

A FEW THINGS THE GROUP WILL BE LEARNING...

  • Learn how to pop-up the right way (it might not be what you think)
  • How to control your speed - acceleration and braking.
  • Directional adjustments - planing forehand & backhand.
  • Find out the oh so common (easily avoidable) mistakes that 90% of beginners make time, and time again - and how to correct them.
  • The subtle art of negotiating waves - how to go over, through, and under.
  • How to maximise propulsion, minimise resistance, and paddle the right way.
  • Learn the difference between functional and progressive stance - which one you should be focusing on, and why.
  • Much more...

EACH SESSION IS BROKEN DOWN INTO THREE PARTS:

THEORY

We guide you through the technical steps on-land.

PRACTICAL

We hit the water to practice what we've learnt.

VIDEO ANALYSIS BREAKDOWN

We film each session, then breakdown the footage frame-by-frame.

INCLUDED: STEP-BY-STEP ONLINE COURSE

Alongside all beach theory and in-water sessions each student will gain access to our online course material to compliment, reinforce, and expand upon all in-person tuition.

Revisit lesson material time and time again with lifetime access, 24/7.

In-depth breakdowns

Everything you'll learn at the beach will be complimented and reinforced inside the digital course.

Lifetime Access, 24/7

All the online course material is yours to keep forever.

Learn at your own pace.

We all learn in different ways, at different speeds. Delve into the course material in your own time, whenever it suits.

RESERVE YOUR SPOT:

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL...

NON JUDGEMENTAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

We understand how it feels to navigate within a male dominated environment where you feel stifled, self conscious, intimidated, and lack a lot of confidence (don’t worry, we’ve been there too).

Which is why we’ve created these weekend courses in the way we have.

You’ll be in a small group with likeminded women at the same level in the surfing journey as you, in a nurturing, massively supportive environment throughout.

WHY CHOOSE THE HOUSE OF SURF?

Structured Progression Roadmap.

WE DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY...

As a surf school we take pride in doing things a little differently, being daring, and not being afraid to challenge the status quo.

And it's this same thinking that's led us to become the fastest growing surf school in NZ, with a roaring community hundreds strong, an incredible team, and some cutting edge teaching methods.

With structured progression pathways - from absolute beginner (level 1), right through to advanced (level 4) - we have a proven roadmap for all our students to follow that's tried and battle tested

SMALL COACH TO STUDENT RATIO

Quality, effective coaching can only be done in smaller group environments, which is why we have hard cap's with low student to coach ratios across everything we offer.

Less students per coach equals more one on one time, more individualised tuition, and faster improvements.

Smaller Group Sizes

Surfing to Targets

SURFING TO TARGETS

Our mission is to always be taking you to the next step, and that means clear, defined targets for each and every session we teach.

We're not here to just push you into waves, hoot, holla, and lavish praise.

We're here to equip you with the skills and knowledge to take your surfing to the next level - every time we hit the water.

INDIVIDUALISED COACHING IN A GROUP ENVIRONMENT

Whatever your surfing level or ability, we always individualise the coaching you receive.

Sure, we cover things in a group environment as well, but we always make sure that each individual surfer is getting bespoke advice unique to them, with clear actionable steps to improve.

Individualised Coaching

WHERE WE'RE LOCATED

We're lucky enough to have one of the best locations in the country to learn to surf right here in Mount Maunganui.

With the white sandy beaches, clear blue water, and soft rolling waves, the area is perfect for learning to surf, and a great weekend getaway destination.

So if you're attending from further afield not only will you get access to an incredible coastline for surf, but you'll also be able to soak up NZ's most popular holiday destination as a neat little bonus.

TESTIMONIALS

DANCE CANEVA

The course is super well structured! Rowan is amazing, his coaching and energy are awesome and really motivating! He was able to spot our individual weaknesses and challenged us in a tailored way based on our individual progress. Highly highly recommend and I will definitely come back for the next level courses when ready!

NAOMI WHEELER

The rain fell and the wind blew and I was pretty scared to participate in this weekend booster course. Unconfident with my surfing ability at the age of 64 (but keen to have a go), Rowan and Loz were so encouraging, supportive, positive ++ and nurturing that, along with the loveliest small group of women, I felt the fear, got out in those waves and even got to pop up! The course is well-structured, the video feedback invaluable but most of all I felt supported each step of the way. I cannot recommend this course highly enough to any woman wishing to start her surfing journey, to gain confidence in the surf and in herself.

SHERLY MORRIS

This women-specific small group beginners surf course was everything I hoped it would be! I highly recommend Loz and Rowan. The info, discussions and hands on sessions were full on but awesome. With the other group members I laughed, learned so much, grew in confidence, wiped out heaps and even caught a rip out to the scarily/ excitingly slightly bigger swells!
Thanks so much guys. Look forward to another course with you next year!
