ABOUT THE WEEKEND

A two day surfing course for longboarders looking to make big improvements in their surfing. 

Over the weekend you'll be guided through our longboard specific curriculum teaching you the unique skills you need to improve. 

Step by step you'll build up the vital skills needed to take your surfing to the next level.

All taught by our world class in-house instructors. 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • 4 In-water surf sessions. 
  • 4 In depth theory breakdown sessions. 
  • 3 Video analysis sessions.
  • Weekend video footage to take home with you.

SKILL LEVEL

You are a progressor surfer if:

  • You're consistently standing up in the whitewater.
  • Attempting to catch green unbroken waves on small days.
  • You're able to catch whitewater waves unassisted.

COURSE

Our Longboarding Made Simple curriculum has been designed for advanced beginner/intermediate longboarders that want to learn the hyper specific techniques unique to the sport.

Over the weekend you'll learn all the vital skills and techniques to:

  • High-line trim along a green wave. 
  • Pop up the right way for longboarding - steep waves, and weak.
  • Cross step forward and backward.
  • Adjust your balance point to learn how to noseride.
  • Nose up bottom turn, unique to longboarding. 
  • And much more.

With each step building on the last, by the end of the weekend you'll have all the skills you need to take your longboarding to the next level, owning your spot anywhere, at any lineup in the world.

A TYPICAL DAY

  • 8am Meet & greet, straight into morning theory session.
  • 9:30am Hit the water for practical implementation of the mornings theory session.
  • 11:00am: Surf video analysis: Video breakdown of the morning surf session.
  • 12pm Lunch.
  • 1pm Theory session.
  • 1:30pm Hit the water for practical implementation of the mornings theory session.
  •  2:30pm Surf video analysis: Video breakdown of the afternoon surf session.
  •  3:30pm Wrap up & home time.  

We generally stick very close to this structure, however on occasion we may alter things to best serve the group.

LOCATIONS

This course is run at the following locations:

  • MOUNT MAUNGANUI - This is our primary destination where we aim to run for the duration. Occasionally we may need to relocate for better conditions that are more suitable, which could be within a 2hr radius. 

TRANSPORT

We aim to run the whole weekend at our default location in Mount Maunganui, however occasionally we may need to relocate to ensure we get the best conditions. 

Therefore, it's important to have access to your own transport incase the venue needs to be moved.

EQUIPMENT

If you've got your own gear, by all means bring that along, or if you'd rather use ours we have a tonne of wetsuits and surfboards you can use free of charge for the duration of the weekend.

CANCELLATION POLICY

21 Days notice is required to cancel your booking.

Upon cancellation you have the option to either receive a refund minus 30% administration/setup costs, or you can opt for a 100% credit note to be used towards the same booked service at the next available dates offered with the House of Surf.

Less than 14 days notice no refund and full credit issued less 40% administration costs.

Less than 7 days notice, no refund or credit is available.

Loz and Rowan are great instructors and the weekend course was really helpful as well as good fun.  They had keen insight into what improvements were needed and offered excellent tips to assist me become a better surfer.  The photo sessions were a big help, too.  If you want to level up your surfing then I recommend you take the course.

Just completed a Longboarding course with House of Surf over the weekend and it honestly exceeded all my expectations. Rowan and Roz spent both days with us teaching us in great detail all the foundations of longboarding. With their care, great balance of theory and practice in the water, and their catered adjustments and advice, we all made very visible progress within just 48 hours. I would recommend their services for anyone with different skill levels and goals for surfing. I can't wait to be back in Tauranga to visit again.

I’ve done 2 of their weekend boost courses now and they’re jam packed full of info dedicated to getting more women in the water… well worth a get away to the mount if you want to up-skill… Couldn’t recommend these legends more.
