Surfing has got to be one of the healthiest sports a child can do; fresh air, sunshine, and an immersion in nature - it doesn't get any better.
But, for many - if not all - the prospect of surfing is fraught with fear.
The fear of waves, wiping out, and being held under water.
And, it's often at this point in the surfing journey where a child can be put off for life if they have even the slightest negative experience.
And that’s where we step in…
At the House of Surf we understand how pivotal this stage can be, and we've created the perfect learning environment to take these first baby-steps into the sport of surfing.
Our Kids Beginner Squad takes a small group - at similar stages in the learning cycle - through a weekly squad format, where they'll connect with other kids, learn new skills each week, build confidence, and improve.
All in a safe learning environment with qualified surf instructors breaking down all of the technical, complicated surf jargon, delivering it in a fun, easy to understand format that's super easy for kids to follow.
And don't worry, we know how quickly kids at this age lose concentration and that's why we've structured these squads in a way that's filled with fun, games and excitement throughout.
What's more, we have a step by step online course to compliment, expand, and reinforce all in-water surfing, drip fed out to students each week.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Each week the group will be taken step by step through our structured curriculum. With each week building on the last students will learn the right techniques at the right times to develop their skills as fast as possible - building ocean confidence and awareness in the process.
Over time they'll build up a solid technical surfing foundation - something your child will have with them for life.
Sure, our aim is to arm each child with the technical skills to be able to catch their own waves and ride them to the beach.
But, our biggest goal - above all else - is to empower each child with the confidence to be in the waves, and - more importantly - instil the love of surfing into their lives.

Alongside all beach theory and in-water sessions each student will gain access to our online course material to compliment, reinforce, and expand upon all in-person tuition.

With structured progression pathways - from absolute beginner (level 1), right through to advanced (level 4) - we have a proven roadmap for all our students to follow that's tried and battle tested.
SMALL COACH TO STUDENT RATIO
Quality, effective coaching can only be done in smaller group environments, which is why we have hard cap's with low student to coach ratios across everything we offer.
Less students per coach equals more one on one time, more individualised tuition, and faster improvements.

Sure, we cover things in a group environment as well, but we always make sure that each individual surfer is getting bespoke advice unique to them, with clear actionable steps to improve.
